FAQ
The percentage next to the word chocolate on the package indicates the percentage of cacao in the chocolate. The percentage will depend on the product, such as 70% or 58%. (The remainder of ingredients are sugar or sunflower lecithin for smoothness in dark chocolate, or milk products in milk chocolate.
Higher percentages of cacao produce chocolate that is darker and richer with less sweetness. If you prefer sweeter chocolate select lower percentages. Of course, we seek the perfect balance on all our products!
The 0°0'0" on our packaging and material represents the latitude of the equator: zero degrees, zero minutes, zero seconds. This is the imaginary line that divides the hemispheres, North from South. Ecuador is the country of origin of our cacao and Ecuador literally means equator. Indeed the equator runs very close to our farm. So putting 0°0'0" on our packaging is a nod to the location of origin of our our cacao, and of cacao in general since this region is where the Mayans first used cacao over 5000 years ago.
The name of the farm is Finca Rica. In Spanish the noun comes first, so Finca means farm.
The adjective comes second, and Rica has a double meaning. It means "rich" but also "delicious." We think it's perfect since the tropical highlands around Las Golindrinas are rich and fertile. And the chocolate made from the cacao grown there is among the best in the world. So Finca Rica means Rich Farm and Delicious Farm!
We cannot accept returns of consumable products for two primary reasons. First, to ensure the freshness of the product we do not want potentially long periods of time to pass between sale, shipping, reshipping, and resale.
Second, and more importantly, we cannot be sure that the package or product was not tampered with, on purpose or by accident. Therefore, for food security reasons, we cannot accept consumables back. If you are unhappy for some reason, please contact us and we will try to address the issues in some other way. Thank you for your understanding.
